Autoportal’s Take On Ford Figo

In the small car segment the major players are undoubtedly the brands Maruti Suzuki and the Hyundai. But off late their hold is threatened by the presence of a few other automobile manufacturers like Ford. The Ford Figo, is an all American car, that was launched in 2010. It was updated in 2012 and is due for another facelift in October 2015.

The Ford Figo price is Rupees 4.14 to 6.36 lakh. Presently the car comes in 4 trims the LXI, the EXI, the ZXI and the Titanium each with the petrol and the diesel models. All the variants have manual transmission variants only.

The Ford Figo is a stylish car with a hexagonal grille, fog lights and body coloured electrically operated ORVMs without blinkers. The newly designed head lamp and tail lamp fittings giving it a sporty look.

The cabin of the Figo imparts an airy look and is comfortable. The features of the LXI variants include an engine immobiliser, central lock in with key, child lock facility, a manual AC, tilt adjustable power steering, fabric seats and  internally adjustable ORVMs, The EXI variants have remote central locking and a 2 Din music system with Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio streaming additionally. The ZXI variants have 1 air bag additionally. Additional features like 2 air bags, ABS, EBD, frontal power windows, electrical body coloured ORVMs, fog lamps at the front and a rear wiper are provided for the Titanium variants. All the variants of the Figo have manual AC only.

The 3795 mm long Figo has a wheel base of 2489 mm and a ground clearance of 168 mm. The Figo is 1680 mm wide and 1427 mm tall. The 284 litre boot of the Figo is sufficient enough to carry two suitcases.

The suspensions are independent McPherson struts at the front and semi independent torsion beams at the rear. The wheels are 175/65-R14 type.

The Ford Figo petrol variants are powered by 1196 cc, 70 bhp and 102 NM torque engines giving mileages of 15.6 kmpl. The diesel variants have 1399 cc, 68 bhp and 160 NM torque engines giving mileages of 20 kmpl. The drive is 5 gear manual.

The Ford Figo comes in colours of kinetic blue, panther black, sea grey, moon dust silver, chill metallic, Colorado red, bright yellow and diamond white.

The 2015 Figo is expected to showcase Ford’s Kinetic design language and gets an updated list of features. The Indian version of the hatchback is likely to feature a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine and the 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, TDCI turbo diesel motor. Additionally, the sedan also gets a 1.5 litre petrol with a dual clutch 6-speed auto that is unlikely to make it to the hatchback.
